I Burattini Cortesi (Bergamo) - Burattini a guanto

Letizia, figlia di Re Gustavo, subisce un vile attentato. Qualcuno si aggira nel castello a viso coperto e avvolto da un rosso mantello. Tutti sono sulle sue tracce che portano fino all’antro del temibile Mago Roboante. Anche il Principe Amedeo cade vittima di un terribile sortilegio. Gioppino, aiutato dai bambini, restituisce al principe le sue sembianze e svela il malefico e diabolico piano ordito da Capitan Rodomonte, assetato di potere. Risolta la vicenda e puniti i malfattori, a corte torna la serenità: ora tutti potranno finalmente vivere in pace.

Letizia, the daughter of King Gustavo, is the victim of a cowardly attack. Someone is prowling around the castle with their face hidden and wrapped up in a red cloak. Everyone is following his tracks which lead to the cave of the frightening Wizard Roboante. Prince Amedeo also falls victim to a terrible spell. Gioppino, helped by the children, is able to help the prince regain his normal appearance and reveals the evil and diabolic plot hatched by Captain Rodomonte, who craves power. When the trouble is over and the wrongdoers have been punished, peace and quiet return to the court: now everybody can at last live in peace.

Il Professor Verrà e Pantaleo, il suo assistente, sono alle prese con una nuova invenzione: non è ancora chiaro a cosa servirà ma certamente potrà servire per il bene dell'umanità. Loschi figuri senza scrupoli, però, se ne impossessano impiegandola come arma per accrescere il proprio potere. Per fortuna, i due inventori e i loro amici riescono a trovare un antidoto per neutralizzare l'arma e riportare l'armonia nel teatro dei burattini. Lo spettacolo affronta il tema del conflitto tra scienza ed etica: le invenzioni non sono mai, di per sè, né buone né cattive; è il loro utilizzo che ne determina l'utilità o la negatività.

Professor Verrà and Pantaleo, his assistant, are at grips with a new invention: it is not yet clear what it will be for but it will definitely be for the good of humanity. However, shady and unscrupulous figures gain possession of it, using it as a weapon to increase their power. Luckily, the two inventors and their friends are able to find an antidote to neutralize the weapon and restore harmony to the puppet theatre. The show tackles the topic of the conflict between science and ethics: inventionsare never, in themselves, either good or bad; they are useful or negative depending on how they are used.

Storie di Piazza  (Biella) - Burattini e pupazzi

Il racconto, scandito da una canzone originale a ritmo narrativo circolare, descrive la giornata di una contadina consapevole di non avere tempo perché impegnata a lavorare per l'intera giornata: coltivare la terra e accudire gli animali. Nell’arco di una settimana avvengono però cambiamenti e trasformazioni che le consentono di avere più tempo per se stessa. Il personaggio vive e fa vivere direttamente allo spettatore le proprie emozioni fino a considerare la possibilità di coniugare libertà individuale e rispetto per l’ambiente.

The story, given rhythm by an original song with a circular narrative pattern, describes the day of a peasant girl who knows she has no time because she is busy working all day long: farming the land and looking after the animals. However, in a week there are changes and transformations that let her have more time for herself. The character conveys her emotions to the audience until she can consider the possibility of combining individual freedom and respect for the environment.

Il principe Korvak vuole sposare la principessa Dolcelacrima ma lei è innamorata del pastore Bellafronte. L’arrogante Korvak può contare sull’aiuto del fido Mortimer, di Micillina la strega e del lupo Crudelio per mettere in atto le sue losche trame. Grazie all’intervento di Gioppino Zuccalunga e dei bambini presenti allo spettacolo, il mite Bellafronte riuscirà, infine, ad impalmare la sua amata. È una classica fiaba con le teste di legno, interpretata alla perfezione dal burattinaio, nello stile più appropriato della tradizione popolare bergamasca.

Prince Korvak wants to marry Princess Dolcelacrima but she is in love with the shepherd, Bellafronte. The arrogant Korvak can count on the help of his faithful Mortimer, of Micillina the witch and the wolf Crudelio to put his shady plots into action. Thanks to Gioppino Zuccalunga and the children in the audience, meek Bellafronte will be able to marry his beloved in the end. This is a classic fairy tale with puppets, perfectly interpreted by the puppeteer, in the most appropriate style of the Bergamo popular tradition.

È il compleanno della mucca Gelsomina: lei si aspetta che tutti i suoi amici le facciano gli auguri ma nessuno pare ricordarsene, mostrandosi stranamente indaffarato. È tutto uno scherzo, naturalmente, che riesce così bene che la mucca Gelsomina ci resta molto male. Ma uno scherzo è bello solo se dura poco così, per farsi perdonare, alla fine gli amici si preparano a festeggiarla ma ... ci vuole un regalo: quale sarà? Ferruccio è preso dalla rabbia perché è convinto di non essere invitato alla festa e ne combina una delle sue. Dopo molte peripezie, questi amici mattacchioni finiranno per vivere la più grandiosa e memorabile festa della loro vita.

It’s all a joke, of course, but it works so well that Jasmine the cow is very upset. But a joke is good only if it does not last long and so, to be forgiven, in the end her friends prepare to celebrate her birthday but… they need a present, what will it be? Ferruccio is angry because he is convinced that he has not been invited to the party and gets up to one of his pranks. After many adventures, these crazy friends end up by holding the most grandiose and memorable party of their lifetime.

Arriva in piazza il burattinaio. Arriva con una baracca ricca di personaggi e molte sorprese. È una baracca che si trasforma nella Carretta della Stelle: una sorta di piccolo circo onirico che va in scena sotto la luna. Una rappresentazione in cui ballerine, animali di pezza e clown di cartapesta, evocano un clima dal sapore antico. Inoltre, c'è Calimerò, un bravissimo clown in carne ed ossa. Proprio come quei circhi ambulanti a conduzione famigliare che raggiungevano le piccoli corti e i centri rurali e offrivano agli abitanti uno spettacolo allestito in un teatro montato su quattro ruote.

The puppeteer arrives in the town square. He comes with a hut full of characters and many surprises. The hut is transformed into the Carretta della Stelle: a sort of small imaginary circus with a show in the moonlight. The performance, with dancers, cuddly animals and paper maché clowns evoke a climate of bygone days. There is also Calimerò, a very good clown in flesh and blood. Just like the family-run travelling circuses that used to go to farms and country villages and offered the inhabitants a show on a stage mounted on four wheels.

Antamapantahou (Grecia) - Marionette a filo

“Strings of music” è uno spettacolo musicale che coniuga tecniche di teatro di figura e mimo: un divertente concerto in cui sono protagonisti esseri umani e marionette. Tra i vari personaggi si esibiscono un percussionista, una danzatrice del ventre, un fisarmonicista, una cantante gitana, tre violinisti e un chitarrista. Le figure sono realizzate in legno e in carta pesta e sono agite utilizzando differenti modalità di animazione: filo, marotte e bunraku su nero. La compagnia Antamapantahou viene dalla Grecia e, in questi giorni, sta compiendo un’importante tournée nel nostro paese.

“Strings of music” is a musical performance that combines puppetry and mime: an entertaining concert where human beings and puppets are at the centre of the stage. The various characters include a percussionist, an Oriental dancer, an accordionist, a gypsy singer, three violinists and a guitarist. The puppets are made from wood and paper maché and are moved using different animation methods: strings, marottes and bunraku with black-robed puppeteers. The Antamapantahou Company comes from Greece and is currently on tour in Italy with many dates.

Gioppino, senza un lavoro ed affamato, non sa più cosa fare per sbarcare il lunario. Fortunatamente per lui, un mago buono gli compare dinnanzi e, sapendo che Gioppino è un uomo generoso, forte e coraggioso, lo conduce in Persia per liberare la principessa Rosaura, rapita da un malefico mago. Gioppino parte per la Persia a bordo di un tappeto volante. Lì, grazie ad un magico talismano ed al suo bastone, riuscirà finalmente a liberare la povera principessa.

Gioppino sets off for Persia on a flying carpet. There, thanks to a magic talisman and his club, he will at last be able to free the poor princess.

Il Marchese d'Almaviva è assediato da numerosi creditori e, per salvarsi, è costretto a seguire il consiglio del suo cinico servo Brighella: chiedere la mano della figlia di Pantalone e, con la dote della bella Smeraldina, saldare tutti i debiti. La notizia delle prossime nozze dell'amata, getta Arlecchino nella più nera depressione: la grave diagnosi, sentenziata dal Dottor Tartaglia, spingerà l'amico Gioppino ad aiutare in ogni modo Arlecchino. Dopo numerose peripezie e divertenti trovate, tutto si risolverà nel migliore dei modi e con il classico balletto finale.

The Marquis of Almaviva is besieged by numerous creditors and, to save himself, he is forced to follow the advice of his cynical manservant Brighella: ask for the hand of Pantalone’s daughter in marriage and, with the dowry of beautiful Smeraldina, he will be able to pay off all his debts. The news of the imminent wedding of his beloved throws Arlecchino into the deepest depression: the serious diagnosis, pronounced by Dr. Tartaglia, will make his friend Gioppino help Arlecchino in every way. After many adventures and entertaining quips, there will be a happy ending and with the classic final dance.

Nella prateria sconfinata, laggiù nel Far West, c’è un bandito, il famigerato Orco Garcia Marchez, che ha il brutto vizio di rapinare la banca di Dodge City. Per fortuna c’è lo sceriffo Pollicino che - con i suoi sei fratelli, tutori della giustizia - riescono sempre a mantenere la pace. Ma Orco Garcia Marchez, che la moglie chiama Ugo, ha rapito le sette figlie del capo indiano Occhio di Pollo Seduto, ed ora la tribù è sul piede di guerra. Saranno Ringo e lo sceriffo, a riportare serenità nei cuori dei pionieri ... festeggiando infine nel saloon, a suon di bistecche di manzo e birra, la pace ritrovata.

But Orco Garcia Marchez, called Ugo by his wife, has kidnapped the seven daughters of the Indian chief Sitting Chicken Eye, and now the tribe is on the warpath. Ringo and the sheriff will restore peace and quiet to the hearts of the pioneers ... when all is over, they will celebrate the return of peace in the saloon with steak and beer.

Un manager teatrale sfrutta proprio come una serva la valletta dalle improbabili mire da star e, insieme a un tonto musicista, intende mettere in scena uno spettacolo circense. Buffe situazioni, casuali equilibrismi e giri di clave sempre al ritmo di musica prodotta dal vivo raggiungono tutt'altro risultato: da liti e odio nascono amore e follia, l’intreccio tra i personaggi cambia ininterrottamente con un crescendo demenziale che conduce i protagonisti ad un legame indissolubile, senza cui né lo spettacolo né la stessa realtà potrebbero esistere. Tecniche utilizzate: clowneria, giocoleria, equilibrismo, pupazzi e musica dal vivo.

A theatre manager exploits a soubrette with improbable ambitions of being a star like a servant and, together with a stupid musician, he wants to stage a circus. Funny situations, casual acrobatics and clubbing to the rhythm of live music reach a completely different result: from quarrels and hatred come love and madness, the interaction between the characters changes all the time with a zany crescendo which leads the characters to form an indissoluble bond and without it neither the show nor reality could exist. The techniques used : clowns, juggling, acrobatics, puppets and live music.

Teatro dei Sensibili di Guido Ceronetti (Torino) - Marionette e attore

Riso, meraviglia, senso del tragico … frammenti di verità umana, evocata soprattutto dalla marionetta. Dice Ceronetti: «Anche un homunculus di pasta di legno e fili di ferro ti può insegnare la via …». Così impregnata è del ruolo che, a volte, la marionetta sprigiona la propria personalità all'attore, non viceversa: «… un oscuro frammento d'anima, risalendo il filo, trasmette un suo segreto messaggio alla mano e di qui al cuore dell'animatore». Non è innocente ma conosce la virtù e il male, il vizio e lo slancio verso il bene; anzi, meglio dell'uomo li conosce, perché attinge al deposito illimitato della magia, del paradosso, della poesia e non si lascia definire troppo in fretta dalla razionalità. «… i Sensibili sono le marionette e tutti gli accessori animabili …».

Laughter, amazement and a sense of tragedy … fragments  of human truth, evoked above all by the puppet. Ceronetti says: “Even a homunculus made from wood paste and wire can teach you about life …». The puppet is so impregnated with its role that at times some of its personality rubs off on to the actor, not vice versa: «… a dark fragment of the soul, moving up the string, transmits its secret message to the hand and from here to the heart of the puppeteer.” It is not innocent but knows virtue and wrongdoing, vice and the impulse towards good; indeed, it knows them better than man, because it draws on the unlimited store of magic, paradox, poetry and does not let itself be defined hastily by rationality. “… the Sensibili are the puppets and all the accessories that can be animated …”.

La trama della “Ginevra degli Almieri”, testo molto popolare nell’800, è tratta forse da una storia vera e appare misteriosa e comica allo stesso tempo: Ginevra, morta in seguito a una lite familiare, è sepolta con tutti i suoi gioielli. Gioppino e Brighella, attratti da tanta ricchezza, ne profanano la tomba. Il deprecabile gesto diventa tuttavia segno di benevolenza del cielo, perché Ginevra in realtà non è morta ma solo caduta in catalessi. Tra paure, bastonate ed equivoci che coinvolgono vari personaggi della storia, tutto alla fine finisce bene, come sempre avviene nel teatro dei burattini.

The plot of “Ginevra degli Almieri”, very popular in the 19th century, is perhaps based on a true story and is mysterious and funny at the same time: Ginevra, who died after a family quarrel, is buried with all her jewellery. Gioppino and Brighella, attracted by so much wealth, open her tomb. The deplorable gesture, however, becomes a sign of kindness of the heavens, because Ginevra was not really dead but had only fallen into a state of catalepsy. With fear, beatings and misunderstandings that involve various characters in the story, there is a happy ending as always in puppet theatre.

Assolo - Sinfonia di Fili per Marionettista Solista

“Assolo” è un breve viaggio nella musica e la parola Sinfonia, nel sottotitolo, vuole proprio accompagnarci in questo percorso. Come una classica Sinfonia musicale, lo spettacolo è diviso in Movimenti, ora lenti, ora veloci, oppure grotteschi o commoventi, ma tutti legati da quel filo invisibile che si chiama sentimento. L'impianto teatrale è essenziale, la scenografia praticamente assente e le luci ridotte al minimo indispensabile, quanto basta a che le marionette siano il più possibile visibili da parte del pubblico. Un solo marionettista e alcune marionette, tutto qui, poi sarà il pubblico a creare la giusta atmosfera, ritrovandola nel proprio cuore.

“Assolo” is a brief journey into music and the word Symphony, in the subtitle, aims to accompany us. Like a classic musical Symphony, the show is divided into Movements, some quick, some slow, or grotesque or moving, but all linked by that invisible thread called feeling. The staging is minimal, the scenery is practically non-existent and the lights are reduced to the minimum indispensable, just enough so that the puppets can be seen as much as possible by the audience.Only one puppeteer and some puppets, that’s all, so it will be the audience that creates the right atmosphere, finding it in their own hearts.

Pulcinella sfugge alla morte, si prende gioco del potere e della prepotenza ma manifesta, nel contempo, paura, timore e i sentimenti che non appartengono all'eroe ma all'uomo della strada. “Storie di Pulcinella” è un insieme di guarattelle ispirate a canovacci antichi e storie moderne che trattano temi spesso di sorprendente attualità. Bruno Leone contribuisce con efficacia alla ripresa di un genere teatrale così importante per la storia e la cultura napoletana ed europea. Pulcinella, sempre presente in scena alla destra del burattinaio, scandisce con la sua magica voce - ottenuta grazie all’ausilio della pivetta - l'alternarsi delle storie.

Pulcinella escapes death, makes fun of power and bullying but at the same time feels fear and emotions that do not belong to a hero but to an ordinary man. “Stories of Pulcinella” are based on “guarattelle”, the traditional Neapolitan puppet theatre stories, inspired by age-old plots and modern stories dealing with topics that are often surprisingly topical. Bruno Leone contributes effectively to the revival of a theatrical genre which was of such great importance for European and Neapolitan culture and history. Pulcinella, always present on the stage on the right of the puppeteer, tells with his magical voice - obtained with the help of a “pivetta” (a musical instrument made from metal and wire and placed against the palate) - the sequence of stories.

Vizi e virtù si mescolano nei caratteri delle maschere che popolano lo spettacolo: golosità e logorrea del Dottore, avarizia di Pantalone e svenevoli civetterie di Rosaura. La felicità di due nobili giovani prossimi alle nozze è continuamente turbata da Capitan Fracassa. In difesa dell’onore della figlia, il Dottore ingaggia il servo Sganapino per dare una “sonora” lezione a colui che, senza diritto, vuole possedere la fanciulla. Riusciranno i maldestri protagonisti a trovare un uomo coraggioso in grado di far desistere l’audace Fracassa? È il momento di Fagiolino, “virtuoso” calzolaio bolognese.

Vice and virtue coexist in the characters of  the stock characters that people the show: the gluttony and verbosity of the Doctor, the meanness of Pantalone and the soppy flirtatiousness of Rosaura. The happiness of two young aristocrats soon to marry is continuously thwarted by Captain Fracassa. To protect the honour of his daughter, the Doctor recruits the servant Sganapino to give a “loud” lesson to the man who, unrightfully, wants to possess the young girl. Will our clumsy heroes be able to find a brave man who can make the  audacious Fracassa give up his behaviour? It is the moment for Fagiolino, the “virtuous” cobbler from Bologna.

Natalì è una bambina nata in un paese in cui il cielo è azzurro e il mare è colore dello smeraldo. Ma da quel posto bisogna partire. Un viaggio che, per ricercare una vita migliore, porta una famiglia lontano da casa, da una terra senza futuro. Dove però i bambini che sono andati via riporteranno la gioia di vivere per avere domani un mondo in cui nessuno si senta straniero. Emigrazione e integrazione, diversità, solitudine e necessità di divenire grandi trovano nuove e coinvolgenti forme narrative. Tra scenografie in continua trasformazione, un’attrice anima grandi marionette che si alternano ai burattini a guanto.

Natalì is a little girl who was born in a land where the sky is blue and the sea is the colour of emeralds. But that land has to be left. A journey, to look for a better life, takes a family far from home and from a land without a future, but where the children who have gone away will bring back the joie de vivre so that tomorrow there will be a world where nobody feels a foreigner. Emigration and integration, diversity, loneliness and the need to grow up find new and exciting narrative forms. With continuously changing scenery, an actress manoeuvres large marionettes that alternate with glove puppets.

Fagiolino e Brighella sciolgono la loro società causa fallimento e, naturalmente, la separazione si consuma a suon di legnate. Appare un Vucumprà che vende cose strane e, mentre Brighella lo respinge, Fagiolino gli spiega invece di essere più povero di lui. Magia dei burattini, in seguito, ritroviamo Fagiolino quasi morto di freddo in Siberia ma ecco che compare di nuovo il Vucumprà intento a vendere frigoriferi che; commosso nel vedere Fagiolino in quello stato, gli cede una coperta e se ne va. Infine, un mago insegna al nostro eroe il modo di risolvere ogni guaio … finché Fagiolino riesce nell’impresa e tutto finisce nel migliore dei modi.

Fagiolino and Brighella wind up their company due to insolvency and, naturally, the separation is accompanied by
whacking. An immigrant pedlar comes along, selling strange things and, whilst Brighella shoos him away, Fagiolino explains that he is poorer than he is. Thanks to the magic of puppets, we then find Fagiolino almost dead of cold in Siberia but the pedlar turns up again now selling fridges and, moved by seeing Fagiolino in that state, gives him a blanket and goes away. Lastly, a wizard teaches our hero how to solve every problem … until Fagiolino succeeds in his undertaking and he lives happily ever after.

Alphonso de Maria Gonzales y Gonzales chiede la mano della bella Rosina. Alphonso tratta la dote con Sidonia, vecchia e avara madre di Rosina, che origlia alla tenda del salotto. Per lei, tutti i sogni si realizzeranno: castelli, ville, gioielli, feste. E l’amore. Ma le malefiche forze infernali preparano un piano: l’oscuro Mago di Tremalaterra, col favore delle tenebre, rapirà Rosina, per chiederne il riscatto. Toccherà ai servi, Sisto e Miseria, il compito di liberare la giovane: fra scheletri innamorati, segugi infernali, bastonate e magie. E alla fine anche loro…

Alphonso discusses the dowry with Sidonia, the old and mean mother of Rosina, who is eavesdropping behind the curtain of the drawing-room. All her dreams will come true: castles, mansions, jewellery and parties. And love. But evil and infernal powers are preparing a plan: the sinister Wizard of Tremalaterra, helped by the darkness, will kidnap Rosina, to ask for a ransom for her. It will be up to the servants, Sisto and Miseria, to free the young woman: amidst skeletons in love, infernal hounds, beatings and magic… And in the end, they also …

Il Cavalier Teodoro intende divenire re del paese di Mezzotacco. È disposto a tutto e ricorre spesso a oscure manovre e intrighi. Per piegare la resistenza del vecchio e saggio Basilio, Teodoro ordina ai propri sgherri di prendere in ostaggio sua figlia Isabella. Senza ulteriori ostacoli, Teodoro è incoronato Re. Ma ecco Pirù: commosso dalle lacrime di Basilio, promette il suo aiuto. Batte a duello Capitan Bobò, il capo delle guardie, e affronta pure un grosso biscione, messo a difesa della prigione segreta. La storia si conclude con la vittoria di Pirù e il paese di Mezzotacco ritrova infine la libertà.

The Knight Teodoro wants to become the king of the land of Mezzotacco. He is willing to do anything and often has recourse to obscure manoeuvres and intrigues. To bend the resistance of the old and wise Basilio, Teodoro orders his thugs to take his daughter Isabella hostage. Without further obstacles, Teodoro is crowned King. But here comes Pirù: moved by the tears of Basilio, he promises to help him. He fights Captain Bobò, the head of the guards, in a duel and even takes on a huge snake, used to defend the secret prison. The story ends with the victory of Pirù and the land of Mezzotacco at last regains its freedom.

In questo spettacolo le legnate e le sberle del Teatro dei Burattini si accompagnano con l’arte del racconto. Una farsa di burattini della tradizione emiliana, i cui protagonisti sono quelli di sempre: il raziocinante Fagiolino e lo scanzonato Sganapino alle prese con il prepotente di turno, il Commendator Lombardozzi, che insidia la povera Rosaura, figlia del Dottor Balanzone. A volte le bastonate si interrompono e lasciano il posto alla narrazione, ovvero alla fiaba del Nano di Culicutidogna, raccontata fuori dalla baracca, con l’aiuto di una sedia e un pupazzo da indossare.

In this show, the whacking and the slaps of the Puppet Theatre are accompanied by the art of storytelling. A puppet farce from the tradition of the Emilia region, with the usual heroes: the rational Fagiolino and the light-hearted Sganapino at grips with the bully of the moment, the Commendator Lombardozzi, who tries to seduce poor Rosaura, the daughter of Doctor Balanzone. At times the whacking stops and is replaced by narration or the story of the Dwarf of Culicutidogna, told outside the hut, with the help of a seat and a puppet for disguise.

Pulcinella è alle prese con diversi personaggi, tra cui il furbo padrone di un cane e il suo animale e un guappo prepotente che gli impedisce di fare la serenata d’amore alla fidanzata Teresina. Lo spettacolo comincia con il richiamo del ciarlatano, in costume d’epoca, che invita i bambini a seguire la storia, così come avveniva realmente nelle piazze dal Medioevo in poi. Il burattinaio coinvolge di continuo i bambini chiedendo loro, tra l’altro, di aiutarlo a cantare la sua serenata a Teresina. Il teatrino diviene, più che una semplice cornice scenografica, un espediente per creare un affascinante gioco tra realtà e fantasia.

Pulcinella is at grips with various characters, including the crafty master of a dog and his animal and a bullying thug who prevents him from serenading his fiancée Teresina. The show begins with the charlatan, wearing period costume, inviting the children to follow the story, as it really took place in the squares of cities from the Middle Ages onwards. The puppeteer continuously involves the children, asking them, for example, to help him sing his serenade to Teresina. The puppet theatre becomes, more than a simple stage setting, a stratagem to create a fascinating contrast between reality and fantasy.
